Lunches and Healthy Eating

Children usually stay at school during the lunch hour for either school dinner or a packed lunch. Dinners are currently £2.05 per day and must be paid for in advance at the school office. Our school meals are cooked on site, and are nutritionally balanced and conform to healthy eating guidelines. The vast majority of ingredients are Manx. Each day the children are provided with a choice of main course and a choice of fruit or dessert. If you think you are entitled to free school meals, please complete the application form online at

or by googling IOM Free School Meals.

Children in Class 1 are provided with a healthy snack every day which they help to prepare and eat together as part of their social education. Children in other classes may bring a healthy mid morning snack from home, of fruit, dried fruit or raw vegetables and a plastic bottle containing water.

Some children have specific dietary requirements due to medical conditions and we work with the parents and Health Service Advisers to ensure they too have a healthy balanced meal and specific snack should they require it.

Milk

You are able to order a daily carton of milk for your son or daughter to drink at the mid morning break. Orders for milk must be placed and paid for before the end of each half term ready for the next half term. The newsletter will keep parents informed about the cost of milk for the next half term.

Water

If children wish to have a drink during the school day, they may bring water to school in a plastic container (not glass) clearly marked with their name. There are chilled water fountains in school from which children can refill their container. Containers must be taken home regularly to be washed and kept clean.

Please note it is not appropriate for children to bring juice, squash or fizzy drinks. The Isle of Man has a high incidence of tooth decay among young children, and as a school we are committed to promoting the physical, mental and dental health of our children.
