Welcome back to our Home Learning Page

Jurby Community School Home Learning Offer

Please find details below of our home learning plans. I would like to stress from the outset, that in our opinion the mental health and well being of the whole family is the single most important aspect, and we do not wish to place any undue pressure on you with our home learning. Please access what works for you and your child. We do not expect you to do all of it, and understand that what works for one child will not necessarily work for another.

Learning Pack

Each child will be given a Home Learning Pack. This will contain a mixture of learning activities, which the majority of children should be able to complete with limited support from you. These will be available to collect from outside the school shortly.

Teams Meetings

We will once again hold Teams Meetings, for those children who enjoy this aspect of learning. We understand that not every child is comfortable in this environment, and these are entirely optional. Having taken on board feedback from parents and children our plan for these this time is below.

The link for these meetings will be e-mailed directly to you.

Reception Children - These will take place at 10.00am on a Tuesday and Thursday and last around 20 minutes.

Year 1 and 2 Children - These will take place at 10.00am on a Monday and Wednesday, again for around 20 minutes.

On a Friday we will hold a meeting at 10.00am for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, and we hope that this will be a fun event to end the week.

Children in Class 2 (Mrs Redcliffe) will have a daily meeting, starting at 10.15am, lasting for around 45 minutes.

Children in Class 3 will have a daily meeting starting at 11.00am, which will last for up to an hour, although we will build into this a comfort break for a few minutes to allow children to have a stretch and move about.

Online Learning

We will post details of activities and challenges for the children on Teams, as well as providing links on our website and Facebook pages.

We do not expect children to complete all of the activities, or to attend the Teams Meetings if they don’t feel comfortable doing so. Our aim is to provide a range of different options, and for parents to choose what works best for them and their children. As a school we are doing our very best to avoid putting you and your family under any pressure.

If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch.

Stay safe

Mr W Nelson

Useful Websites and Activity Ideas

Please find below a list of useful websites and activity ideas to help with home learning. As with anything on the Internet, care should be taken to ensure that children are supervised whilst online to ensure they do not accidentally click on to an unsuitable website.

All of these links are to activities provided by external providers and the school has no direct control over them, or their content. Whilst we have reviewed the content at the time of posting we can’t guarantee that any future content is child safe or suitable for your child.

Finally please remember that children (and adults) should not spend the whole day online. Think about the amount of screen time your child has. Going outside for a walk (restrictions allowing), playing a game or doing art and craft is as important as other aspects.
