World Book Day
Thursday 3rd March is World Book Day, and we will be carrying out a variety of book related activities on that day. As part of the day the children can, if they wish, come to school dressed as a character from a book, and bring a copy of that book to school with them. (If they don’t have a copy of the book, please tell them to ask us, as we may well have a copy in school they can borrow.) If your child does not wish to dress up they should come to school in their uniform as normal. There is no charge for this event, and every child will be given a £1 World Book Day voucher on the day.
Thank you to everybody who supported our cake sale at the start of the week. We raised £172 which Mrs Radcliffe’s class have used to purchase an acre of Rainforest through the WWF, as well as sponsor an orangutan and a jaguar.
You may have noticed over the last couple of weeks that a number of staff have been absent, some for a day or two, others for longer. I hope that after half term we will have a full complement of staff, and would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole school team for their flexible approach that has ensured that whilst colleagues have been absent, the school has kept running on an even keel. I would also like to thank Miss Kissack who has been covering Miss Dennett’s class.
Jurby Community School 40th Anniversary
On 26th April 2022, Jurby Community School will celebrate 40 years in its current building. As part of our celebrations we will be holding an open afternoon / evening on Wednesday 23rd March from 2.00pm until 8.00pm. This will be an opportunity for past pupils and staff to come and have a look around the building and to hopefully catch up with old friends. Further information about this event and others will be sent out after half term.
The weather forecast for tomorrow is not great. In the event of the weather causing disruption to our school day, we will communicate any news or changes via our School Facebook page and via text message. If the message is not on our official school page or via text from the school account, it is not true!
