Covid 19 Precautions

In school we continue to follow the Government’s message of Hands, Face, Space and Fresh Air in school. This means that we will be ensuring children wash their hands whenever they come into school, encouraging children to spread out as much as possible, and opening as many windows as we can, whilst keeping in mind the overall temperature of the school. We will be trying to keep a sensible balance between reducing risks and trying to operate the school e.g. we will not be insisting upon a 2m gap between children, as we know this is virtually impossible to achieve.

At this moment in time face masks are ‘strongly encouraged’ for all adults in school, but not for primary aged pupils. You may therefore see adults wearing masks when moving around the school, or when working closely with a small group, but teachers may well remove them when teaching a class, where they can distance themselves and have increased ventilation. Children are of course free to wear a mask if they wish.

Our biggest defence remains all of us keeping a close eye on our general state of health, this includes twice weekly tests for adults, and not sending a child to school if they are unwell, or if they have COVID symptoms. Please remember that if your child is sick or has diarrhoea you need to follow the 48hr rule and not send them to school until 48hrs after they last bout.

Climbing Frame

The children are enjoying playing on our new climbing equipment, but as we enter the wetter winter months, the children will only be able to play on it if they have wellies or other waterproof shoes that they can change into. This will ensure that Dee is able to focus on keeping our school clean and Covid free, rather than cleaning up mud that has been brought into school from the field.

We will be selling poppies and other Remembrance Day items in school from the main office. The stationery items have a suggested minimum donation of 50p, and £1 for the ‘slap bands’.

40 Years of Jurby School

On 26th March 2022 it will be 40 years since our school building was opened, and we would like to celebrate this occasion in some way. At the moment we are looking for ideas as to how the Community would like to celebrate this event, and will be holding an open meeting on Wednesday 10th November from 2.30pm. If you have an idea, or would like to be involved in helping to organise something please come along.

Friends of Jurby School

Thank you to everybody who helped to organise and run the Hop Tu Nae Disco. The next FOJS event is the Christmas Fair which will be taking place on Friday 10th December from 6.00pm. FOJS are holding a planning meeting this Wednesday (3rd November) at 2.30pm in the Community Room. Please come along.

Snack and Cookery

Snack and Cookery for children in Miss Lace’s and Miss Dennett’s class is £10 for the half term and can be paid via Parent Pay or cash or cheque at the Office.

School Photos

Our annual school photos will this year be taken by Andrew Barton, on Wednesday 10th November.

Andrew will be in school from 8.30am to take photos of children with siblings who are either too old, or too young to attend Jurby School. There is no need to book, please just come along.

We will automatically take photos of all children on their own and with any siblings who are in school, unless you ask us not to. If you would like your child to have their photo taken with a child who is not their sibling e.g. Cousins, please complete the slip below and return it to us, or send us a text.

There is no need to return the slip if you only want photos of your children on their own and with their siblings.
