Staff News

As you may have noticed, Mrs Waddell has been absent for the last few weeks. I am glad to say that she is getting better and hopefully will be back at school in a few weeks time. In the meantime I am pleased to announce that Mrs Melling is going to be working with us for three afternoons a week. Please say hello to her if you see her around. Mrs Quaggin is also going to continue to work with us, covering some of Mrs Waddell’s work.

You may have also seen that we are currently advertising for a teacher to work 2 days a week for the summer term. As you may remember, Miss Lace moved to working full time when Mrs Games left us at the end of last year, and since then Mrs Horrisk has been covering Miss Lace’s previous post on a supply basis. Government regulations will only allow me to cover a post on a supply basis for a maximum of two terms, and therefore I have needed to advertise the post for the third term. Once an appointment has been made I will let you all know the name of the successful candidate.

Manx Day

On Monday we are having a Manx day in school. The children will be split into 4 groups, with children of all ages working together. They will then rotate around 4 different activities for the day. Mrs Jaques will be leading a Manx Dancing activity, Mr Starkey will be leading an art activity, Mrs Hope and Miss Lace will be making Bonnag, and Mrs Cranmer and Mrs Quayle will be exploring some of the stories and folklore of the Island with the children. The children should come to school in uniform as normal.

World Book Day

World Book Day is on Thursday 7th March. As usual we will be having 2 days of activities based on books and reading, and on FRIDAY 8th March will be inviting the children to come to school dressed as a Superhero. There will be no charge for this non uniform day.
