Please find enclosed two copies of this year’s formal report on your child’s progress. Please can you sign and return one copy to school as soon as possible, the other copy is for you to keep. As usual we would encourage you to make a comment on your child’s report before you return it to us. If you would like to discuss your child’s report with their class teacher, they will be available after school on Monday from 3.30pm until 5.00pm. No appointment is necessary, please just come along. If this time is not convenient please contact the Office to arrange another mutually convenient time.
Shennaghys Jiu - Traditions Today
As part of the Art day that we held on the Friday before half term, all the pupils helped to produce a dragon which will form the centre piece of the Shennaghys Jiu Art Exhibition which will be taking place in Ramsey Town Hall from Monday for a week. In addition, next Thursday we will be visited by one of the music groups who will be playing in the festival. Further details about the festival are enclosed, or follow them on Facebook.
Swimming does not take place during the summer term, so Tuesday will be the final swimming session until September.
The Average Child!
On your child’s report it will make reference to whether your child is working at, above, or below the expected level for their age. In order to help you understand this we have written booklets which set out what the ‘average’ child can do independently in Maths, Reading and Writing. It is important to understand that the statements in these booklets are intended as a guide only and the actual level your child is working at is determined by teachers using a range of assessment tools, along with their professional judgement.
What do you think of our School?
Next week our School Governors will be carrying out a Parents’ Questionnaire to gather feedback on what you think of our school. They will be in the playground at the start and end of the day on some days next week. Please take a couple of minutes to talk to them. We will also have the questionnaire available for you to complete during Parents’ Evening on Monday, and will put a link to it on our website as well.
Dinners and Milk
A copy of the new Dinner Menu is enclosed. Dinner and Milk prices for the next half term are:
Dinners - £68.80 (Cheques made payable to ‘IOM Government’)
Milk - £6.08 (Cheques made payable to ‘IOM Government’)

Thank you to the Friends of Jurby School, who have kindly provided items for some Easter Hampers for the children to win. Tickets will cost 50p each and will be on sale from Monday. The draw will be made in Assembly on Thursday.
Our Library is now up and running, and all the children have visited and chosen books, with many of them having already returned one book and borrowed their next. We would love the Library to be used by our whole community, so please encourage everyone you know to come and visit. It is open to our community from 2.00pm - 3.00pm on a Monday, 3.30pm - 4.30pm on a Tuesday and 9.00am - 10.00am on a Thursday.
Next Thursday is the last day of term, and as usual will be a non uniform day. Children in Class 2 will be going to Ardwhallan as usual. This time, we will be donating the £1 donations to our school fund to help pay for various treats the children receive.
