RGS Letter 11.2.22

February 2022

Dear Parent/Carer of Year 6 Students,

I am writing to you all to let you know a little more about what the transition process will look like for your Year 6 student, prior to their move to Ramsey Grammar School. I am currently in the process of visiting all our Year 6 partner schools to meet the students and look forward to answering their initial questions. I will be taking some familiar faces from Year 7 with me to help alleviate any concerns they may have at this early stage.

Under the current guidelines we are still unable to hold large gatherings, this does not allow us to hold our traditional open evening. We would however like to invite you along to take a look around the school buildings. We have arranged a series of tours to take place on the following dates:

• 15th of Feb (4pm and 4:15 pm)

• 17th of Feb (4pm)

• 1st March (4pm)

• 3rd March (4pm and 4:15pm)

The tours will last approximately 30 minutes and can be booked on EventBright via the following link: Book Tickets

Students will get another opportunity to come for a look around when we hold our Speed Questioning events. These will be arranged by ourselves and your child’s school and will take place during normal school hours. At these they will get to speak, on a carousel, to as many of our current Year 7 students as possible. This will allow them to ask any questions they have and be given honest and open feedback, from those who have most recently joined our school. These events will take place through March and April.

Our Welcome Days will take place in the Summer Term and these dates will be confirmed, and communicated to you, in the near future. These full school days will give students a taste of what student life at Ramsey Grammar is like and enable them to start forming relationships with both their tutors and the peers who will be in their Form Class.

We understand the transition from Primary to Secondary school is an anxious time and wish to support our future students fully as they prepare for Year 7. We hope the events listed above will help this transition be a smooth one and create excitement around their move to Ramsey Grammar School.

Yours faithfully,

Emma Dyer

Acting Head of Year 7
